Day 10

So I realized while trying to fall asleep last night that I'm actually off 1 day and I have been from my fist post with this trip. I talked about our flight and our first full day in Maryland under day 1, oh well. Anyway yesterday was so much fun! My mom got super cheap tickets to the Baltimore Aquarium through her school (only $5 a person instead of like $25.) By far Savannah's favorite part was the Dolphin Show, I mean how can you not like it. The whole time she was oohing and aahing and clapping, even to the beat. She was just in heaven even though she was a bit unsure before it started.

After the show we got to stand next to the glass tank and watch the dolphins swim by and Savannah wasn't even scared like I thought she would be. She just loved every minute of it. Next we started our trip through the aquarium looking at the sting rays and all the different displays. She would hold hands with my mom and I and once we got to a tank she'd pull her hands free so she could press herself up to the glass. A couple times she even tried to climb inside, she really likes water. They have a new to me Australian exhibit and it was pretty cool. One of the workers there would feed a type of fish with grasshoppers and the fish would jump out of the tank to get it.

We went to lunch afterwords right along the harbor and I was just in heaven, then we headed back to my parents. Last night was our next scheduled activity, one that has been pretty regular while I've been here. My family loves hockey, now they haven't always my brother Mark loves it and not they all do. This week the Washington Capitals have been in the playoffs for the Stanley Cup so every other night we've been watching hockey. Last night Mark and I decided to get into it and wore hockey jersey's. If they won last night they would have moved on in the playoffs but alas they lost so keep your fingers crossed for Monday night, they just need to win 1 more game in the series.
Savannah even gets into the games and helps cheer the Caps on, fun times, fun times.

Day 8 and Day 9

So you would think I would be more on top of posting each day about our trip because this week is less busy then the previous, but your wrong. I like posting about our trip each day because I tend to forget the fun little things that happen and sometimes I forget all together what we even did. I'm just not as good at remembering as I used to be, dang this pregnancy brain. Anyway, Wednesday was a fun day which I was very nervous about. My mom had a doctors appointment near my grandparents house so she dropped off Savannah and I so we could have another visit with them. Now why would this make me nervous you ask? Well my grandparents house has lots of things in it and is obviously no where near baby proof and if you haven't been able to tell, Savannah is very active and very curious. I've been very grateful for my family while I've been here because chasing Savannah around is quite exhausting for me but very good exercise. Anyhow, she did great at my grandparents and I was glad that they could see her being her true self. She explored all over the house and just had a fun time all around. Savannah is the first great grandchild on my dad's side so I'm glad that Savannah's been able to spend some time with her great grandparents.

On Thursday I got to have a pretty much Savannah free day. My mom had class in the morning and Mark stayed home from school for take your child to work day. Since he couldn't go to school with my mom we showed him what it's like being a stay at home mom. After my mom got back we left Savannah with Mark and went to get our hair done. My mom has been going to the same gal since I was in high school and she's fantastic. I just got a trim so nothing exciting but I totally love it and I loved not having to worry about Savannah. Mark even got her to go down for a nap while he was watching her. He just has a way with kids. Then later that afternoon my good friend Jenny came over with her youngest girl who's just 3 months younger then Savannah. It was so fun getting to see her and just catch up. Whenever we get to see eachother it feels as if no time has passed, I love it. We ended up going out to eat with another friend Jackie to the local Chinese restaurant that we used to always go to, and once again Mark watched Savannah for me. It was so fun reminiscing and having memories pop into my head as we drove around. It made me remember even more how much I loved growing up here and how much fun I had. Can you tell how much I LOVE Maryland?! I think its one of the best places EVER.

Day 6 and 7

So these past two days have been a bit quieter and we've done some of the same activities. I decided that with this post instead of giving you the play by play of yet another track meet and Savannah at the park I'd share some cute stuff Savannah did on Monday.
So when we came downstairs Monday morning I saw a car on the counter top in the kitchen, I figured it must have come from like a box of cereal or a kids meal or something. Anyway I decided to open it up and give it to Savannah to play with. I wasn't quite sure what she'd do with it because she's never played with a toy car before and I don't think she's ever seen another kid playing with one really so I watched with anticipation. She takes the car, examines it and then proceeds to get down on all four and starts pushing the car around on the kitchen floor. Too cute!
Later that afternoon we headed off to another of Mark's track meets and cheered him on. Whenever kids would run by Savannah would say "run run" to encourage them along. The cutest thing she did at the track meet though was when it was almost over. They had placed all the hurtles in a row at the end of the track and Savannah decided it was time to start practicing her hurtling skills. She started climbing through each one and once finished with one row would turn around and come back the other direction. Every one who walked past made the comment on how she was practicing already to do hurtles. I just thought it was so cute since both Jacob and Mark have done hurtles in track.
Then the cutest thing of all she did was that night at dinner. My mom took my brothers, Savannah, and I out to dinner. My dad was working super late so we went to the Cheesecake Factory, a place he doesn't really like. Anyway...we were sitting in a booth next to another family. We both had highchairs at the end of our tables so Savannah ended up sitting next to this super cute baby, he must have been around 8 months or so. Anyway if you've been to the Cheesecake Factory you know its a kind of a loud restaurant which worked out great for Savannah's plans. She was talking up a storm to this little boy, she kept shouting and laughing and just jabbering away at him. Of course the boy just stared at her but she was having a ball, then to top it all off she started playing peek-a-boo with him! She'd cover her eyes and say "peeeeeek-a-BOO!" over and over again. It was by far one of the cutest things I've ever seen her do. So there you have it, three cute things Savannah did yesterday and two pictures from playing outside at the park and watching Mark race.

Day 4 and Day 5

So on Saturday we went to the mall. My brother Mark is turning 16 on Sunday and my mom uncharacteristically waited until the last minute to get his birthday presents. So off we headed and along the way we decided to ride on the carousel. So as noted in my previous post Savannah isn't really a fan of riding on things so getting her to sit on a horse was not an option. Instead we rode together and watched the horses go up and down. It was pretty fun and and she did seem to enjoy it.

So on Sunday we of course woke up Mark with shouts of Happy Birthday and then it was off to church. I was a bit nervous to leave Savannah in nursery because she's developed a bit of separation anxiety and I didn't want her crying the whole time. I actually stayed with her for the first hour and for the second I left her be. I was told she is quite the wiggle worm. I guess they put all the toys away for there lesson and singing time, Savannah doesn't do this in her nursery yet. When I went to pick her up she didn't have red eyes so I'm guessing other then being a wiggle worm she did quite well. After we came home Mark opened his presents and then a bit later decided he wanted his super good cake my mom had made. We all quite enjoyed and there is plenty left to have more of. Now I just get to wait till dinner is ready so I can enjoy a yummy meal of steak and shrimp, I love being on the East Coast.

Day 3

So we really like the park, we've gone to one like almost every day. Savannah loves being able to run around and climb up and down the stairs. This park had some swings too so she had a blast playing on those. We tried to get her to sit on one of those rocking horse things and she wanted nothing to do with that. After playing at the park we headed back home and had a nap, yes I'm included in that nap time and it was wonderful. Then that night we had a fun surprise and had a visit from Sandi and Jared. Sandi is Jacob's youngest sister and she and her husband are moving to Philadelphia for the summer so they stayed the night at my parents. It was a fun surprise and I was super excited we got to see each other. We also got to talk to Jacob, we weren't sure if we'd get to talk to him or not because he was leaving to go Turkey hunting. He went Thursday and was unsuccessful in getting one and he was leaving Friday night to go on another hunting trip so were hoping he gets one this time.

Day 2

So on Thursday we had another full day. My mom is taking some classes at the local Community College so she was there in the morning. Mark somehow managed to not go to school and Jordan had the day off. So once my mom got home we had lunch and then headed out to the zoo! I have great memories of going to the DC Zoo and I was hoping for the same this trip. I won't lie, I was a bit disappointed quite a few of the exhibits were closed for renovation but it was still a fun adventure. Savannah had lots of fun being pushed around in the stroller and quite preferred to be in there unless we were stopped in front of an exhibit. Also her favorite exhibit was this farm animals exhibit they had. She thought the cows were the best and quite enjoyed pointing out every animal. Her least favorite animal was the gorilla! When we saw them she started to cry, it was pretty sad. Overall the day was great and we all had lots of fun.

Day 1 and the Night Before

So on Monday night Jacob was super helpful and went to the store for me on his way home from work. I needed some treats for our plane ride and I told him he should get something for himself too, he chose Oreo's. Now, Savannah has never had them before but we knew she'd like them I mean hello! Chocolate and a wonderfully delicious cream filling how can you not like it. So as you can see below they were a hit and it was also decided we would not be taking any on the plane with us.
So yesterday was our first official full day in Maryland and it was quite eventful. Savannah who doesn't really get the time change slept till like 10:30 which was very nice after the horrid nights sleep she made me endure. My mom took my brother Jordan and Savannah and I out to lunch and then we went to a park near by. Thank goodness for Jordan because Savannah was running everywhere and I wouldn't have been able to keep up with her. She also wanted to go down some of the bigger slides and I don't think I would fit on them anymore.

So after some fun at the park we headed back to my parents house and prepared to leave again for my other brother Mark's track meet. It was pretty bright outside so Savannah decided that she needed my sunglasses and wore them for quite a bit. After about an hour and a half we spotted a playground near the school building so that's where Savannah and I spent some more time. She kept trying to run on the track, maybe she'll take after her dad and uncle she's definitely fast enough. Also as a side note Savannah only fell asleep on the car ride home from the track meet and that was it and that was the end of the car ride so for only like 15 minutes. She was quite tired but had a great day and I had lots of fun too.

Emotions

So I know I'm pregnant and all but I hate my changing emotions. With Savannah I really didn't have this problem at all, just for one week and that was it. With this one I never know when it will strike and if the emotions I'm feeling are legitimate or just me having an overload and being a bit irrational. So, Savannah and I left for Maryland yesterday and even before we left I was in a bad mood and Savannah didn't help. Thank goodness for the day turning out MUCH better then I expected. Our first flight was like 35 minutes late which was bad because we only had a 35 minute layover in Salt Lake. I don't know why but it happened that our connecting flight held the plane for us which resulted in it leaving like 20 minutes late. Another stroke of good luck were the two wonderful women sitting next to us on the plane. They LOVED Savannah! She sat on their laps during take off, tried to steal their food, and drink their water and they ate it up. I would not have been so kind but I'm so thankful for people who are and who teach me lessons. I think I would have lost it if it hadn't been for these two women. Also I'm so grateful for my in-laws who let me borrow their DVD player because without it I don't even want to imagine what that 4 hour flight would have been like. I'm so grateful that Savannah could for the most part sit still for 5 1/2 hours when she typically can't sit still threw Sacrament Meeting. I'm also SO grateful for Cinderella, the only movie we watched and the only one that Savannah will watch sitting still and paying attention to. Finally after a long day we arrived at my parents and I was so happy to not be on a plane and to be home. Each time I come back to Maryland I realize even more how much I miss being here and I wish with all my heart I lived closer. I also realized how much I love, adore, appreciate, and need Jacob. When we called him last night to let him know we arrived safe and to tell him about our flight Savannah just jabbered away at him and I could hear it in his voice how much he missed her. When I finally got to talk to him I didn't want it to end and when it was time to say goodbye I almost couldn't bring myself to do it. I even cried a little when I got off the phone. I know its silly and that we're only going to be apart for 2 weeks but I laid there in bed wishing Jacob were hear with us and wondering what I was thinking leaving him for so long. Don't get me wrong I am so happy to be in Maryland and I I know I'll love every minute of it, but I wish my sweetheart were here with me to enjoy it to. I know I'd still feel this way even if I weren't pregnant but this emotional roller coaster can be intense.

Fun Times

So Savannah and I have had some fun this past week. Jacob had some guy time on Friday night with his good friends so I decided that Savannah and I would have some fun girl time. I thought making cookies was a good choice and I was totally right! Savannah quite enjoyed the results of making cookies and I quite enjoyed watching her enjoy the results.

Then today for lunch I decided we'd have a picnic, now its only like 40 degrees today so eating outside was out of the question. We enjoyed our lunch on the living room floor while we watched Savannah's most favorite movie, Cinderella. We had lots of fun and I can't wait for it to get warmer so we can actually eat outside. And yes, she's still in her pj's but don't worry as soon as we finished lunch she got dressed.
