Life Lesson

Savannah had her first encounter with stealing yesterday. She didn't actually take the item out of the store but she did take a toy that was in the check out stand and then take it with her to the bathroom after we had paid for our items. Its amazing how well kids can hid things they don't want you to see. Once we got in the bathroom I quickly noticed the toy and took it from her. After she used the restroom we had a talk about stealing and she then had to take the item to the cashier and apologize for taking it. She was more then embarrassed and could barely speak above a whisper. The cashier was very kind and thanked Savannah for bringing back the toy. As soon as we walked out of the store Savannah burst into tears. When we got home we had another talk about why we couldn't take things before we buy them and once Jacob got home he and Savannah had a talk as well. This morning while we were watching a show one of the characters ate something before he had paid for it, immediately Savannah said that was naughty and he had to pay for that first. I was glad to see that she learned something from our talks and hopefully we won't have to go over this again.

Babysitting

Its been ages since I've babysat but today I finally got the chance. My sweet niece Saylor is at our house today because her poor daddy had to have surgery on Thursday and her momma was having a hard time taking care of both of them. I was elated she actually took me up on my offer to help her and the girls and I have had a blast playing with our little house guest. Olivia keeps climbing into Saylor's car-seat and playing with all her toys, I've had to take Saylor's pacifier away from Olivia more times then I can count. I actually find this to be so odd because Olivia never used a pacifier so its just a bit odd to me that she is now infatuated with it and puts it in her mouth every 2 seconds. It is now clean and put where Olivia can't reach it. So far she has been absolutely lovely and so good, she's patient with the girls who want to touch her and kiss her all the time. She ate all her food, went right down for her nap, and has been full of smiles and giggles. Savannah has been a sweet heart and is by my side every minute to help me if I need her. If Saylor cries for any reason Savannah is right by her side saying, "Its alright honey. Honey its allll-riggghttt!" It makes me smile because this is something I say and she says it just the way I do.

Science Experiment

So Savannah and I did a science experiment last week and ever since she's been asking me when we can do it again. It also kept her occupied for at least half and hour if not longer which for her is saying something. I found the idea where else but on Pinterest. Its a VERY simple project and only requires 6 things which I bet you have around your house already.

Pan
Baking Soda
Food Coloring
White Vinegar
Cups/bowls
Spoon or other instrument to move liquid

You just pour however much baking soda you need to cover the bottom of your designated pan ( used a whole box for a 9x13), put white vinegar into your cups or bowls and add food coloring. Then you just need to mix the colors and start putting your mixture onto the baking soda. It will bubble and fizz and then finally settle down. Once we had used all our colors Savannah just sat there staring at the pan for quite some time just waiting to see if anything else would happen. I finally just had to take the pan away and wash it out so she'd move on to our next activity for the day. Like I said so easy and even Olivia thought it was fantastic. She needed help doing this activity and had to be closely watched because she kept trying to taste both the baking soda and vinegar. Overall it was one of the easiest projects we've done and one of the funnest.

St Patrick's Day 2012

So I realized today when I was taking pictures off the camera and putting them on the computer that I never posted about St Patrick's Day. Silly me, we really had a lot of fun and the girls had a blast with all the green treats we had that day. Savannah woke up elated to find out a naughty little leprechaun had turned our milk green but had also left us some Lucky Charms cereal. We then had green mac and cheese for lunch, Savannah still hadn't gotten dressed so she wasn't in her cute green shirt yet. I honestly forget what I made for dinner but I'm sure it was fantastic and we also had green cupcakes with green frosting. The girls had a blast and it was just a fun day all around. I really do think holiday's are so much more fun with kids.

Don't Go Away

So I'm usually not a fan of rain, I mean its nice and all if I get to stay inside but I hate when we have to go out and about in it. Well not anymore thanks to my wonderful mom and her great Easter gift to the girls. They now are both proud owners of rain boots and matching umbrellas. Savannah got ladybug boots and Olivia got butterfly ones. At this point in time Olivia is more interested in sitting inside her umbrella and Savannah keeps twirling around the house with hers while wearing her adorable boots. I can safely say they are both in love as is there momma. So in the words of Savannah, "Thank you grandma Thcombs!" The poor thing can't pronounce my parents last name right so she calls them the Thcombs, its so funny. Oh and do you love the matching dress? Savannah got it from one of her cousins and just happened to be wearing it when we opened our package, I love it.

Pi Day 2012

Did you guys have a fun Pi Day? We did, Savannah had a blast helping me make our apple pie. Her favorite part was rolling out the dough for our crust. I had a bit left over and she just played with it for about 30 minutes. There was quite a floury mess but if it keeps Savannah busy and entertained I'm willing to clean up a mess afterwards. I also have to say I think this was one of my best pies yet and when it was all done it looked beautiful, perfectly golden brown. We got a late start baking so the girls got to stay up late to enjoy their pie and Savannah just kept shouting "Happy Pi Day!" over and over, she got pretty into it. This is the second or third year we've celebrated and now 3/14 is permanently in my mind and on our calender so we'll be sure to celebrate every year. I mean really how can you not like a day where you get to eat pie?!

Also as a random side note, this is my 200th post, pretty exciting stuff I know.

Park Anyone?

I love that its 64 degrees and its only March 9th. I know the weather is just playing tricks on me and before I know it we'll be back down to the 40's so we have to enjoy every minute of 60 degree weather while we can. As you can tell the girls had a blast today at the park.

Something New

So Jacob and I have started a new routine. Its all thanks to my friend JaNeil who shared the idea with me. She found a blog that shared ideas for date nights and things you can do to strengthen your relationship with your spouse. She had decided to implement some of the ideas into her routine and I soon followed her example. This new idea we've been doing for 2 weeks and I love it! At the beginning of the month Jacob and I each write down one thing we'd like the other person to do for us each week of the month. So we each wrote 5 things because we started the last week of February and wrote stuff down to cover us all the way threw March. On Sunday we each pick a piece of paper and don't show the other what we've picked. Then we have the whole week to decided when we want to do what the person wrote down. Does that make sense? I'll give you an example. One of mine was to have Jacob buy me flowers and it made my whole week when Jacob brought them home! I asked Jacob to grab some milk on his way home from work last night and in he walks with my beautiful flowers. The things I wrote down range from flowers to a date night, letting me pick any movie I want to watch and snuggling on the sofa to doing the dishes one night. Its little things that I wouldn't mind Jacob doing for me that he doesn't do all the time. The one I picked for him this week was making him a grilled sandwich, one of his most favorite things to eat and I will be making it for him on Saturday for lunch so don't tell. So far we both really like this idea and we'll for sure keep it up for awhile. Its such a fantastic way for us to do something special for each other and to not have to think up something on our own. Life is so crazy anyway and we can't read each others minds so its nice to have a hint of what the other person is needing or wanting. Plus its fun going threw the week waiting to see what nice thing your spouse is going to do for you, its like waiting to open your presents on your birthday or Christmas. The anticipation of waiting till you can find out what your getting and then the happiness you feel once you open the present and its something you want. Thanks again JaNeil for sharing your great idea with me.

Wacky Weather

The weather lately has been wacky to say the least. One day we have snow the next day its in the 60's. What's a girl to do but roll with the punches and take advantage of the gorgeous weather we had today. The girls and I took some presents to Jacob at work this morning so once we got home it was time to play outside till nap and quiet time. Savannah kept examining every tree in our yard to see if she could climb one. Since watching Pollyanna she's desperate to climb a tree except she doesn't want to fall down like Pollyanna did. Olivia had to follow Savannah wherever she went because she didn't want to miss anything exciting.
Poor Olivia gets so frustrated being shorter then her sister, it makes getting onto things a bit difficult.

Both of the girls were standing on a tree stump and Olivia was quite annoyed once Savannah got down.

I finally put Savannah in one of the trees and let her stand there, she was very content doing just that and she didn't really try to move anywhere.

She also did a great job of climbing down by herself, she's such a big girl. Tomorrow its suppose to snow in the morning and then were in for lots of rain so its a good thing we took advantage of such a pretty day because it looks like we won't have another one for quite some time.
